Anyone can sign up for a Twitter account, customize their profile and page display settings, and get to tweeting, and finding new followers as well as other Twitter users to follow them. But how do you become verified? First and foremost, it’s important to emphasize that a verified Twitter account is one that has Twitter’s official “stamp of approval”. If you have an issue with people impersonating you online, you’ll definitely want to become a verified Twitter user. In order to become verified, you’ll need to contact Twitter, and when asked, provide them with government-issued identification to confirm your identity. However, Twitter does not verify each and every account that requests it, so make sure that you really need verification before submitting – and follow up, if need be.
