That’s So Fetch – Useful Google Tool

Google has made current updates regarding “spammy” links. Whether you are aware of the bad links on your site or not it is better to prevent them and fix them than to ignore the problem. A tool to help you check out your site for bad linkage is by utilizing The Fetch Tool by Google. Google is notorious for using Fetch to look at blackhat and webpage spam sites. Fetch allows you to see your site in Google’s eyes, which is useful to utilize when you are noticing poor page performance in search results. If your site has been hacked the Fetch tool can help you identify problems and problem pages.

In order to use Fetch Google Tool you need to have added/verified your site in Webmaster Tools. Follow these instructions for Fetch use:

  1. On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click the site you want.
  2. On the Dashboard, under Health, click Fetch as Google.
  3. In the text box, type the path to the page you want to check.
  4. In the dropdown list, select the type of fetch you want. To see what our web crawler Googlebot sees, select Web. To see what our mobile crawler Googlebot-Mobile sees, select cHTML (this is used mainly for Japanese web sites) or Mobile XHTML/WML.
